Pego Do Altar

Inland for a couple of nights at the local Barragem, great places to chill out as they are built with facilities in mind for people to enjoy the experience, brill idea that works for me every time.

Loads of sun sets, sorry !

Travelling the west coast give plenty of opportunity for free camp stops and a mingle with the European surf community ! Full on Atlantic swell and breaking waves keeps them more than happy 😊

Each place had their own stunning vistas complemented with food and drink and that’s before we hit Lisbon and settle into the city life !

Tavira

The Moors invaded and occupied The fortified river crossing we know as Tavira twice, once in the 8th Century AD until the 13 AD and left an idelable mark on the town then again between 27th March to the 2nd April in the year 2017, yet again leaving an idelable mark on the old town as they brought with them the wrecking ball Ashley Moore !

IMG_4150
The invasion begins with the Moore’s creeping up behind the Elliott’s who are heavily out numbered !
IMG_4155
The leaders of the warring clans broker a peace deal and seal it with drinks.
IMG_4170
A beach walk gives Ashley one white arm and one pink arm, not quite the image for a wreaking ball !

A room with a view across Tavira and its river.

so as they departed deals were struck, mainly around catching up again in England for some drink and food at the bar called Simons, where a hand picked cask conditioned brew is being prepared for our arrival, it was great to see family and friends on our travels and as you can see we had a cracking week. Tavira once again seeing off the Moore’s as the pink armed wreaking ball sheepishly boards his flying machine.

So we off northward to Lisbon !

Castro Marim – Odeleite

After another visit to Santa Luzia for a few days to recce Tavira for The Moore’s arrival we shoot off to the hunting club on the top of the hill in the mountains of Odeleite barragem complete with all things boar !

IMG_4092
Getting the wrong side of these guys is not a bright idea and they roam the mountains !

Alcoutim, you can ferry over to Spain and zip wire back ! If you fancy.

This is the Swedish neighbour geared up for his African Moroccan trip.

Moncarapacho

After a crunching time trying to get parked in Fuzeta we moved swiftly on to the hills of Moncarapacho and Franks Orange and Lemon groves high in the hills. With as much fruit as you can eat and all the amenities €10/night is a bargain, so much so we stayed over well past our expected moving on date, but what the heck eh !!!

IMG_3883
There’s always a downside to everything

What a find, off the beaten track down an old sandy road which opened out to a large car park to the rear of a large beach hut cafe, closed for the winter with room for loads of camping cars right on the beach a mile West of Villamoura, no facilities but still a bargain for the peace and tranquillity.
